Juventus signs Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt in five-year worth €12m per year.
Juventus has officially announced the signing of Ajax’s Matthijs de Ligt in a five-year worth €12m per year.
The 19-year-old thought to be linked to Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Juventus, Liverpool, Manchester United, Manchester City, Real Madrid was finally snatched by the Italian giants in a five-year deal with a £150m release clause attached to it.
A statement posted on the Juventus’s official website read
“Juventus Football Club SpA announces that it has reached an agreement with Amsterdamsche Football Club Ajax NV for the definitive acquisition of the registration rights of the player Matthijs de Ligt for a fee of €75m, payable in five years over accessory charges for €10.5m.”
De Ligt who made his debut for Ajax in 2016 became the club’s youngest captain in 2018. He also helped Ajax to the Champions League semi-finals last season.
The deal makes Matthijs de Ligt makes him the third most expensive defender of all time.
