On the early hours of Friday, there was a massive celebration in Toronto as thousands of excited fans stormed the street to celebrate their hometown team Raptors’ first ever NBA championship win.
The Toronto raptors who became the first team outside the United States to win the world’s premier basketball competition clinched the win over Golden State Warriors beating them 114-110 shortly before midnight local time.
There were thousands of supporters including rapper Drake who dressed in the team’s Jersey of red and black to show support for the Toronto raptors who was playing the biggest game in Canadian basketball history.
At the ring of the final buzzer, the fans poured out in their numbers into downtown Toronto’s Yonge-Dundas Square chanting the team’s rallying cry “We the North.”
There were fireworks lit up in the square as the crowd sang Queen’s triumphal anthem “We Are the Champions”,
Rapper Drake was so excited as he was seen jumping up and down, chugging down a bottle of champagne(he’s really the champagne papi) while hugging people around him.
Excited Drake who is a Raptors ambassador also announced that he will be dropping new music on Friday to celebrate the team’s win.
